If you really want to have the achievements for keeping track of progress – there is a mod that disables the disabling of course. If you don’t care about that just go ahead. One info: using mods disables the steam achievements. So Divinity: Original Sin 2 has full mod support and even though the community isn’t nearly as big as the one from giants like Skyrim or Fallout they have been quite busy so far and there are quite a few good and interesting mods out there already.
